I do technical writing for SQL Server all the time. Whether I’m writing at SQL Server Central or MSSQLTips, I am always writing. I’ve also had the opportunity to write an eBook and contribute chapters for two print books. I had, once upon a time, embarked on writing a for print technical book on SQL Server security, but alas, wasn’t able to complete the book due to a job change that sucked away all my free time for two years (two years where I didn’t take a single day of personal time off… never again). Technical writing, while challenging and rewarding, no longer feels me with trepidation.
I have, after a lot of prayer and consultation with several folks that I trust, decided to embark on writing a non-technical book, targeted at Men’s Ministry. At this point it’s still an idea in my head, so I don’t have a lot to say on it. However, this is one of those things I want to see get done this year, preferably by the end of June. I’m not quite sure what all I’m supposed to say or how to go about getting it published. But at this point, I look out at the state of the Church today in America, about the men that are in the churches and the many more that are not, and I feel compelled to write. So that’s what this goal is about.
