I typically write a work day devotional, though admittedly after the loss of the twins, I’ve struggled to get everything back in order again. If you’re looking for a workday devotional, check out:

But you know, it doesn’t make much sense for a devotional writer to read his/her own devotions for a daily devotional… that sort of defeats the purpose. I’ve had a couple of folks ask me what I use and it’s actually an old, traditional one:
I’ve used Oswald Chambers’ classic for years and it continues to speak, even to the present day. I’ve tried others, but I always find myself coming back to this one. There are other great ones, like Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening, so it’s good to find the one that works for you. One thing I’ve often done is go to the bookstore and preuse the devotionals that are there. Flip through a few days, then jump ahead to another section, flip through another few days, and then jump ahead again. See if the words of the devotional speak to you. Make sure it’s one based on Scripture, and if you find it touches a chord with you, that’s the one to try. Given it a few weeks or so and see if you find yourself looking forward to opening its pages and meditating on the words of the devotional writer. If you do, then that’s the one to stick with.
I went to a Dollar Bookstore (used books) yesterday and I was surprised to have found a copy of ‘My Utmost for His Highest’ for $1. I found the book in almost “new” condition – no markups or highlights, and no folds. I was really about to order a copy of this devotional from amazon for my 2010 devotional reading. I currently have Blackaby’s “Experiencing God Day-by-Day “
